“The stories people tell have a way of taking care of them. If stories come to you, care for them. And learn to give them away where they are needed. Sometimes a person needs a story more than food to stay alive.”
–Crow and Weasel, Barry Lopez, 1990

Family Stories
Family stories, handed down. Oral history, brought alive through the telling of these stories. If you have ever wished you had some of these stories recorded, the voices of loved ones preserved, the library may be able to help, through both people and resources. Thanks to a grant from the Noble Foundation, the library now has equipment for videotaping conversations centered around local history and family stories. We call it the Fredericksburg Oral History Project. Volunteers have compiled a questionnaire to help guide the conversation, and are also ready to help with running the camera and the interview itself. If you would like to preserve your family stories, or local history, please contact the library!
